Many Volunteer Opportunities

Now that we have settled into our new home, we are working to maintain a healthy, clean and low stress atmosphere for the many animals in our care. Our new facility is much larger than our old shelter and is a pleasant and safe temporary home for the animals waiting for a permanent home.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers who are willing to give at least two hours a week to help with various tasks. Our hard working staff is stretched thin. There is a lot of work to do each morning to prepare for prospective adopters to view the animals. Our greatest need is for help with cleaning in the mornings. If you would like direct contact with the animals, helping us clean cat rooms, dog kennels or small animal cages might be for you. If you would feel more comfortable not having direct contact with the animals, we can use help washing pet dishes, doing laundry, floor care or many other housekeeping tasks.

If you want to get some exercise in the fresh air, an afternoon of walking dogs might be just what you need. For quiet relaxation, come spend time with our cats in a bright inviting room, cuddling them and brushing them. Socialization is key to making animals adoptable.

There are many fund raisers during the year that we need assistance with and you would be more than welcome to join our "Flying Fingers" ladies work on the mailings that are sent out.

These are only a few of the volunteer opportunities available. Stop by for an application, or give us a call at 873-2430. We will be glad to make an appointment for you to come in for an interview. We can discuss the best way you can help and find an opportunity to fit your schedule. Training is done on the premises.

Volunteers aged 12 to 15 years must be accompanied by an adult; 16 to 18 years need parent's signature but may volunteer on their own.

Give it a try. It is an uplifting and rewarding experience. The staff and the animals will thank you for it.
