Whether you're walking playful dogs, socializing shy cats, keeping things clean behind the scenes, or assisting with important administrative tasks like processing adoptions and answering phones, there’s a place for you! Returning Volunteers
If you are a current/returning volunteer or have any specific questions you can contact the volunteer coordinator at volunteering@hwsa.org ​
How to get involved:
​
1. Submit Your Application – Complete the volunteer application online.
2. Await Approval – Once your application is approved, we will reach out to you to move to the next step.
3. Complete Online Orientation – Watch the orientation video and finish the quiz.
4. Attend In-Person Orientation – We’ll discuss volunteer roles, schedule your first training shift, and give you a tour of the facility.

Your application will be denied if:
-
You are under the age of 13
-
If you’re between the ages 13 -and 15 and you do not have a parent/guardian’s application submitted as well to accompany you on your shifts
-
If any information on the application is skipped or false
-
You have been convicted of a crime involving animal cruelty, arson, theft, or domestic assault
-
You have been previously dismissed from volunteer duties with HSWA​

*At HSWA we have specific guidelines for community service requests. Depending on the situation not all applications can be approved. Requests may be declined depending on the situation. For more information regarding this, please email us at volunteering@hswa.org
